When I lived in the Southeast United States in the hustle and bustle of the of the big city I used to dream about a life of peace and quiet in the Colorado mountains away from the rat race. This was in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s before much happened with the internet.
I used to just open up the altas and maps of Colorado and the Western States and just try to imagine what the small towns were like. I didn’t have this incredible resource of the Internet to search and look up photos and information with so it was just a lot of imagination and dreams in full swing.
I remember those days very well and I think that is why we have always strived to add as many photos and good descriptions for our property listings as possible. There is a art to being able to add as many photos as possible and also have a website that loads quick and sometimes I go overboard and add too many photos…but I feel it is necessary to really give you a good feel for the properties.
So many real estate agents just take one or two photos from the county road and think that is all they need to show you. You know exactly what I am talking about I am sure.
Barb and I have been exclusively marketing and selling Colorado mountain property in this area of Southern Colorado near Trinidad, Aguilar and Walsenburg for over 20 years each. So that is a lot of experience between the two of us. We love the Colorado lifestyle.
We enjoy helping people find that perfect mountain property. And sometimes we help people determine that this may not work for them. You just have to be realistic….this is a huge change in life and you really have to be prepared for it. I think it took me two years to do what I call “decompress” and settle into the Colorado lifestyle.
Some people just can’t settle into the insolation of mountain living. Personally I love it and can’t get enough of it. But for some after the thrill has worn off they just don’t know what to do with themselves when they don’t have the malls and shopping just minutes away. Every trip to shopping has to be planned.
And you have to learn to stock up on supplies because you just can’t run down to the corner store like you do in the big city. But that is an easy lesson to learn with fuel being so expensive and with stores not open 24/7 like in bigger towns.
One of the things that we do as your real estate agents is to help you understand the difference in the lifestyle here and how it might work for you and your family. It is different here in the mountains and you just need to know that.
What we suggest is that you come and explore the area and spend a day with us looking at properties getting a feel for what life might be like here on a mountain ranch and property. See what kind of homes people are building and how they have carved out their new lives here.
We like to make sure that you see the possibilities so that you can make a good decision. So it’s not all just looking at land its looking at the community and area. We are not the type of agents that give you a map and send you on your way or sit in the car and point out what to see.
If you want to explore and find every property corner pin on a parcel that you like we can do that, no problem. And since we know our listings personally we can show you the sweet spots and potential building sites very easily. We make it fun and share a lot of knowledge with you so bring your notebooks and cameras with you.
Give us a call or send us an email and let’s start communicating about what you are looking for and what you hope to find. If you like what we have to say and feel that we can help you then lets plan a time to spend a day or two getting to know the area and properties. The Colorado lifestyle might be just the change you have been looking for whether it is for vacations, hunting or your retirement home.
