This parcel on Spanish Peaks Ranch Estates is a very exciting new listing. It has so many of the features that one looks for in a remote mountain property in Las Animas County or for that matter in Colorado. I show some photos below of some ponds and just so you know these are not on the property but they are on the Ranch Property on what we call the Small Acreage Parcels or Spanish Peaks Ranch, the 35 acre and larger parcels are located on Spanish Peaks Ranch Estates. But you can become a member of the Small Acreage Association and get access that is closer and easier to get this parcel. It’s not much, I think $100-150 a year for access and then you can fish in the ponds and use their recreational area. We can get you more information on this but this is something that each property owner in the large acreage parcels can opt to do. There are a number of small homes and cabins in the small acreage area of Spanish Peaks Ranch which see a lot of summer time usage with people escaping the heat and enjoying one of the most beautiful areas of Colorado.
For the most part the access to either ranch is pretty much seasonal as the roads are not plowed for snow in the winter, at least not real close to parcel 8 or even in the small acreage lots. But you could hike or snowshoe in or even us a snowmobile when necessary or have the roads plowed. The roads to the property from within the ranch are not very improved and are passable yet it is slow going. So if you are looking for something remote this is just perfect.
I can tell you that this property just feels good with its awesome views of both Spanish Peaks and the Raton Mesa/Fisher Peak back near Trinidad it is just breathtaking. It has great tree coverage and character and yet has many small open meadows throughout the entire parcel. This is high country at it’s best.
