Santa Fe Trail Ranch is a very large developed Ranch in this area near Trinidad. It has always been very popular because of its close proximity to town, about 5 miles and most every property is about 20-35 minutes away. But there are other things that make this ranch a standout when it comes to local ranches.

One of the most important features is that this ranch has City Supplied water. What that means is that this ranch purchases water from the City of Trinidad and this water is very good in that it comes from the high mountain lakes west of Trinidad and not Trinidad Lake as some might expect. This high mountain spring fed water source gives us wonderful water in Town and on this special ranch. There is a tap fee for using this water but as opposed to the risk of drilling a well in the mountains there is no risk with this. Property owners on this ranch also own a small portion of their minerals, approximately about 1/16th of the 100% total. And the Property Owners Association either owns or controls the rest of the minerals. So unless a majority of the property owners vote to allow Methane Gas Well drilling, like in most of the rest of the properties west of Interstate 25, there will be no gas well drilling on this ranch. That is great news! We like this ranch so much that Barb just purchased a property on this ranch for future investment. That should tell you something.

Some parcels on this ranch don't have views of the Sangre de Cristos or the Spanish Peaks or maybe they only have views of Fisher's Peak and no big Western Views. But this is one of the few parcels that has views of all three. All you have to do is choose which, if not all, of the views that you want to see from your new home! Awesome!

One of the things that makes a parcel too is easy access to a building site and also a building site that has southern exposure. This property has that too! And there are a couple of choices for a building site too so you will have to decide where you might want to build if you decide to build that is. Otherwise you can just come and camp and enjoy because there is no requirement that you ever have to build.
